How far would you go to protect
Danny and Libby are about to face every
parent’s worst nightmare.
When eight-year-old Hope Bird disappears
without a trace, from the quiet village she
lives in, life for her family will never be the
same again. Her parents know she would
never have gone off alone and the police
have no idea where she is. Then a child’s
shoe is discovered and the case takes an
unexpected turn. Soon a suspect is identified
but this is only the beginning.
Will they ever find Hope?
Frailty is a haunting, gritty, psychological
page-turner about the choices we make.
This is an extremely harrowing and emotional read, that has and will stay with me. As a parent is it a tough read all the way though but it is possible to continue reading because of the author’s writing style and clever use of chapters from Hope’s POV. Entirely different from my previous favourite by Betsy (The Opticians Wife) but never the less a book worth bleating about.
But don’t just take my word for it..Here’s the thoughts of fellow TBC member Philippa McKenna who does’nt blog but has agreed that I can share with you.
A very dark and disturbing read from Betsy Reavley. When 8 year old Hope goes missing, parents Libby and Danny are thrown into turmoil and absolute desperation as they search for their daughter. Be warned, this is not a happy read, but it is brilliant and I couldn’t put it down.
